a few months ago a virus sunk its teeth into family members big and small. miley missed a week of school. she was well enough to return the following monday, but i was still under the weather. she dressed herself and i threw some of her mane haphazardly into a rubber band. we arrived at school a bit early (go me! not the norm.) to observe all the fancy things the other children were wearing- dresses, paton-leather shoes, and utah sized hairbows.i couldn't believe it- i'd forgotten about her first picture day! you really shouldn't do things like that to a middle child. the pictures came back this week. i was sooooo excited when i saw this shot. some smart photographer zoomed in close to crop out the disheveled outfit and focus on that face. a smile that not even that nasty lake/tree backdrop could diminish.
oh, miss miley- i like you.

When you told me about picture day I was a little worried, but it turned out so good! I thought she was going to look all ragamuffin, but she's so cute. :)
Your kids are not CAPABLE of taking a bad picture. This is as cute as it gets! Love ya.
Seriously! With eyes and a smile like that who could help but zoom in on that face!? I love it. I am so glad it came out... you will have to write the story down on the back to go down in history though.
I forgot Quinn's picture day when he was 3 also. His hair (which I neatly comb almost everyday) was sticking straight up in back like an indian feather and he had on some ratty lightning McQueen shirt, it is bad but I promise... I have not forgotten another one yet! :)
Am I a worse mother for forgeting my first child's? She however did not receive the, curly goes w/ anything hair, and I just had them retaken on make-up day. It's not just for absentees anymore.
I really heart her :) I can't wait to see my sweet flower girl!
