little miss and the #6

a post-digital collage of the beautiful birthday bug

mia will be spending today turning six. six- that is so much older than five, puts her months away from the first grade, and totally freaks me out. it was just over six years ago that the ultrasound tech squished my massive belly and announced that the bouncing baby was indeed a girl. we were ecstatic. unfortunately, we only agreed on a boy name (levi). i wanted a little 'lyla', but brian wasn't having any of that. he liked 'mia'.

some things about his pick really appealed to me- it ended in an 'a', it was short, it didn't rhyme with any swear words, and all three of the letters could be found in my name. because before she came into this world i knew that she would always be a part of me, & i of her.

a very happy birthday to miss mia, who is more like her mom than anyone could have ever imagined.

I can't believe how big Mia is! So exciting that she's going to be in first grade. Give her a hug for me and tell her I love her.

Mia and Marisa, I was there when that beautiful tow head entered our world, what a miracle. It was sure much easier delivering babies myself than watching my daughter go through childbirth. If my precious Mia lives to be half the mother and wife that her mother is she will indeed make a special impact on this world. I love all of you and miss you.
