opening night & always

11/2008 me & christa opening night

6 freeways and 1 hour later i was back. back where it all began. back with the people that feel like home.

i was lucky enough to attend the opening night of west side story with christa and her mom cathy in orange county a few weeks back. this was no ordinary musical- it was christa's masters thesis. designing the 185 costumes for the cast had been her life for months, and it was beautiful. the dresses were to die for. as was her outfit- a smashing green number, huge earrings, and 6 inch shiny black sling backs.

walking into the theater, the three of us couldn't get two feet without being bombarded by enthusiastic well-wishers. all of whom offered big hugs to the designer and comments to cathy and i about what a hard working, talented girl we had- we just nodded our heads in agreement. we know. we watched the wonderful production together- pointing, whispering, and being all around terrible audience members.

christa is having a rough week and i want her to know that she makes me glow with pride to be by her side. opening night & always.

What a beautiful friendship the two of you enjoy...LOVE it, RELISH it,and KEEP it forever!! When you become as old as I am, you REALLY come to believe what I have heard so often: "If you can look back and say that you had ONE (or two) TRUE friends in your LIFETIME ....you are indeed BLESSED." The key to that mystery, of course, is a tried and TRUE definition of "friend". Christa, if Marisa calls you "friend" (which she ALWAYS does...always extolling your many talents and your goodness) you can bet your boots that you fit that definition. Congratulations to you on all your accomplishments. By the way, take the rough week you are having and just give that to the Lord to take care of....He's our NUMERO UNO FRIEND. I love, love, love you both! God bless and keep you in His tender, loving care. Grandma C.

Christa & Marisa, It only seems like yesterday that Christa was at out home in LaPalma helping you celebrate your 16th birthday, has it really been 11 years? I could not be more proud of Christa and what she has accomplished, if she were my natural daughter. Risa, I am so glad you were able to share this exciting time in Christa's life with her. You two have been throught alot together and your bond just seems to grow closer, that is terrific. I love you both loads. Glo Mom
