today was miss mia's first day of kindergarten.our new house (more on that later) is within walking distance of the best school in the district! dad was able to go into work late so we could all attend the orientation together.
i wasn't able to take the pictures i had planned on because there were 32 students with parents and siblings squished into one chaotic classroom. because of state budget cuts mia is a part of the largest kindergarten class her school has ever seen. i will be writing my state representatives and i would encourage you to do the same.
her teacher seems great. she has loads of experience and she's passionate about parent involvement and early education.
i only teared up once, when we first got to the school. we entered through the main doors with all the older kids running around trying to find their new classrooms. i instinctively reached out and grabbed mia's hand. all of sudden she seemed way too little to be there, but she's not. our little miss is growing up and she's ready to move on to her next adventure. congrats to our mia bug, we are so proud of you!

oh my gosh! I feel like I have missed so much. Your house is BEAUTIFUL. And the front door is awesome. I can't wait to come out and see it. And Mia.....wow! in school! Did she just love it? I'm so excited that you have a blog now! Now I just have to keep up with mine. But for sure I will see you next week.
Oh, So precious! Thank you for starting this blog. I am hopeful that I will get to see more of what's going on with you guys now. Maybe, just maybe it will inspire me to blog as well. :) Your house is adorable! I also love the olive door. Mia could not look any more precious on her 1st day at school. Quinn starts in August, I am sure he will be like Mia "Bye mom!" and never look back. Those 5 years go by fast don't they? Love you guys.
Oh,Marisa, if I could just take one giant leap and be there, you KNOW I would definitely do that. I am SOOO happy for all of you! What great pictures...beautiful paint job on your beautiful house! Love that green door!! Wish I could have been there to help. I can hardly wait to see you guys and to give you giant hugs and kisses. I just KNEW this day would come for you and your family! No one is more deserving than you. I'm just so proud of you and Brian! Why do I have this giant lump in my throat??....And oh my sweet Mia. Congratulations on your first day of kindergarten. You look so pretty in your cute uniform...so neat, clean, tidy, and ready to be a real student. I'm going to go see you as soon as possible. I miss you so much!!! Cheers to my second family!!!
Love,
(Grandma) Carolyn
Mia looks so cute in her uniform! It makes me think that all elementary school kids should wear uniforms.
